1. If recent feedback of a stream of acknowledgements from the receiver showed 3% congestion on the path, a naive approch would be for the sender to set the congestion experienced code-point(CE) in 2% of packets, and for a 2% congested relay to remove CE from 2% of packets. But this would in general prove impractical. Whenever the relay wished to signal the number 2%, it would have to wait while some 50 or so unmarked packets passed before a CE marked packet arrived to be cleared.
2.A better alternative would be for the sender to alternat ECT(0) and CE,but sent about 2% less CE than 50%, replacing them with ECT(0). In other words, marking ~48% CE and ~52% ECT(0). Then the relay would only have to wait to average about one packet before finding an ECT(0) packet it could mark with CE. |
