请问大家： of 后加冒号用法对么？（谢谢了）

近日看到有人专利文中这样写：
the method comprises the steps of: abcdefe,fsfsfsdfsfdsfak, fhsafjhsaljf dsgjsdgjak.
请问这里 of 与冒号同时出现，对么？、
我还从来不知道有这两样用的呢，个人认为 of 后边不能加冒号, 你们的意见呢？ 谢谢了

有人有其他领域范围么（非专利文的）或者麻烦给详细讲一下，因为在书报上好像从没留意过这样写的，所以肚子里很是怀疑，希望在这里彻底弄清楚。

比如 如果我翻译其他领域的东西，这样写从语法角度讲对么？
