美国要求日本加入对中国知识产权的诉讼

日本共同社，东京——日本经济产业大臣甘利明（Akira Amari）本周二表示，美国已要求日本参加一项刚刚提交世界贸易组织的有关中国知识产权保护的诉讼。

U.S. asks Japan to join intellectual property case against China

TOKYO — The United States has asked Japan to join a U.S. complaint just filed with the World Trade Organization against China over protection of intellectual property rights, Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Akira Amari said Tuesday.

\"We would like to carefully assess details of the U.S. request and China\'s relevant efforts,\" Amari told a news conference. At a separate press conference, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki also said the government is \"studying how to respond\" to the U.S. request. Japan is expected to decide whether to join the U.S. complaint after Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao\'s visit to Japan this week.

Sudanese University Honors WIPO Director General

The University of Al Gezira presented on April 2, 2007 an honorary doctorate degree to the Director General of  the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Dr. Kamil Idris, for his contribution to the promotion of intellectual property as a tool for economic, social and cultural development. The degree was presented to the Director General at a ceremony at the University by Al Gezira State Governor, General Abdel Rahman Sir Al Khatim. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ismail Hassan Hussein,  was also present at the ceremony.

At the ceremony, attended by top Government and University officials, Dr. Idris expressed his gratitude for the honor conferred upon him. In his acceptance speech, the Director General said that the intellectual property system is a critical tool for social development, economic growth and wealth creation. Highlighting the universal importance of intellectual property, Dr. Idris, said all nations can capitalize on the instruments of the intellectual property system for development and wealth creation.

Top officials from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, successful inventors and entrepreneurs will headline the agency\'s New York Regional Independent Inventors Conference.  The event will be held May 12-13 at the New York Academy of Sciences in New York City.  

Registration is now open for this two-day event. The registration fee of $100 per person includes all sessions and presentations, morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch for both days.

USPTO Launches National Campaign to Inspire Young Inventors
The United States Patent and Trademark Office, together with the Advertising Council and the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation (NIHFF), launched a national, multimedia public service advertising (PSA) campaign to engage a new generation of children in innovation. The campaign seeks to make inventing and developing new ideas part of American children\'s lives. The PSAs, which can be viewed online, are being distributed to 28,000 media stations nationwide this week. All of the new PSAs will air and run in advertising time and space donated by the media. The spots direct viewers to a website that has been created for the campaign, InventNow.org.

强化知识产权保护的十个步骤
近年来，中国在对知识产权的保护上取得了显著的进步。
