请教如何在美国或欧洲检索外观专利

1.美国专利数据库的帮助文件中说明“To search for a particular type of patent, go to any one of the three search pages (Quick, Advanced, Number) and, in the appropriate patent number field (Patent Number, PN/, Query), enter the patent number including the appropriate prefix：\'D\' for design patents，为什么我在TTL中输入watch，在PN中输入D，仅检索到1975年至1978年申请的专利呢？
2.在欧洲专利局，能够检索外观专利吗？方法是什么？

美国专利在advance search中需要将你的检索句子与下面的关键词进行“and”操作

关键词格式是： apt/4

有关Application Type具体类型的说明是：

Application Type (APT)

This field contains a single-digit number which indicates the type of patent, as follows:

1 = Utility
2 = Reissue
4 = Design（这一条是外观设计！）
5 = Defensive Publication
6 = Plant
7 = Statutory Invention Registration
