1. 你确定原句是这样的吗？或者可不可以把后面的内容补充一点，比如说有没有具体写明co-pending applications？
2. 很重要的一点，这句话是在美国的原申请文件中的，而不是在比如要到中国来申请的非PCT申请的申请文件中的，是吧？
3. 这里的are filed不知道对不对，应该是were吗，这也很重要
4.关于“ 与本申请同日”，我觉得如果前面说的确实是are而不是were的话，可能是指与本申请同日提交，而如果是were的话，可能是指这些co-pending applications是同日提交的，
5. 在此引用美国专利**”，可能也不对，因为co-pending applications是被引用，而不是引用别人，但我确实不太理解这里的by reference U.S. patent application Ser. No. *.，不知是写的不对，还是把U.S. patent application Ser. No. *.本身作为reference理解而将co-pending applications并入？

这个句子是出自于《专利文献的英汉翻译》第28页的一个练习题，可是没有答案。
我觉得会不会这句话是笔者自己编的？

which指的那些co-pending applications是同日提交的，还是本申请以及co-pending applications是同日提交的？
并且在此通过引用**融合？

越看越混乱！我已经彻底糊涂了，明天就这么去考试了。。。
